Natural Treatment For Interstitial Cystitis

With this guide I’ll provide you with a list of all the remedies I tried for my interstitial cystitis. I will explain how to apply the remedy and how that remedy is supposed to work.

Many of these remedies have helped many people, but I can’t give you any guarantees. As I’ve said before, regular consumption of quercetin with bromelain has provided me personally the greatest benefit. But everyone will be different so don’t give up hope if it doesn’t work for you and move on to another therapy.

I always suggest you consider an interstitial cystitis natural treatment when considering various drugs and their side-effects.

Supplements for Interstitial Cystitis

Quercetin
Quercetin is my favorite of the interstitial cystitis natural remedies as it both reduces inflammation and helps prevent infection. There is a much clinical evidence supporting its use. If you have a sensitive stomach, I suggest you read my article about quercetin side-effects before trying it.
Calcium citrate
Makes your urine more alkaline, thus decreasing irritation to the bladder.
Bromelain
Provides anti-inflammatory action. This works great combined with Quercetin. One of my favorite supplements for interstitial cystitis is Now Quercetin With Bromelain.

Nutrition for Interstitial Cystitis

Isolate & Eliminate
Food sensitivities are often the cause of chronic inflammatory conditions. Use an elimination and challenge diet to determine food sensitivities.
Eat Natural
Consume only unrefined and unprocessed foods. Include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, seeds, nuts, olive oil, and cold-water fish (salmon, tuna, sardines, halibut, and mackerel).
Avoid Sugars And Processed Foods
Stay away from sugar, dairy products, refined foods, fried foods, junk foods, some beans (fava, lima, black, soy) and caffeine. Coffee, chocolate, alcohol, carbonated drinks, citrus fruits, and tomatoes often worsen symptoms.
Drink Plenty of Water
You should drink about fifty percent of your body weight in ounces of water daily. So if you weigh 150 pounds, you should drink about 75 ounces of water each day.

Herbs for Interstitial Cystitis

Herbal remedies for Interstitial Cystitis an provide natural leaf through a regular regiment of consumption. But just like with all medications, taking more is not better and overdosing on even natural herbs can lead to serious illness.

Try these herbs for interstitial cystitis natural treatment:

Gotu kola
Try 30 mg standardized extract triterpenes three times a day. Theoretically it improves the integrity of connective tissue by stimulating production of glycosaminoglycans, an integral component of the mucous layer in your bladder.

I suggest trying the following as a tea or infusion:

Usnea
Features soothing and antiseptic properties.
Buchu
Provides your urinary system a soothing diuretic and antiseptic.
Marshmallow root
Provides soothing demulcent properties. I recommend you try it as a cold infusion. Soak the herb in cold water for several hours, strain and then drink.
Cleavers
A traditional tonic for the urinary tract.
Corn silk
Provides soothing and diuretic properties.
Horsetail
This is an astringent and mild diuretic believed to have tissue-healing properties.
